How to Replace an audi spare key cost G28 Engine Speed Sensor

Charles the Humble Technician shows you how to replace the G28 Engine Speed Sensor. This sensor is situated on the outside of the transmission over the flywheel gear. It sends a message to the ECU through a grey wire T55/49, then to the tachometer on the instrument cluster.

The grey wire is situated on the edge of transmission, directly above the flywheel ring. The sensor transmits a signal via the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU then uses this information to control the boost, fuel, and timig. It also sends an indication to the G5 Tachometer in instrument cluster.

The sensor serves as a reference for comparing with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu needs to know when the crankshaft has reached TDC and also where the camshaft lies in order to activate the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails, the ECU will display an error code P00160. This means that the Crank Shaft is out of alignment with the Intake Camshaft. It could also indicate an issue with the chain or a jumped chain link in the upper chain of timing. The code won't appear without the additional information supplied by other sensors (G4 or G40).

Testing can be a bit difficult because there are two pins for the connector and they serve different purposes but the most effective method of testing it is to measure resistance between the sensor and the ECU. It should read about 1000 ohms if the sensor is operating at its maximum. Look for signs of coolant, or oil in the connector bay if you have problems with this part.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, when accelerating from highway paytoll at a high speed I noticed a massive decrease in power. It was like the engine had run out of gas. Or my injectors weren't firing. I took out the spark plugs this morning, three were soaked with gasoline and the fourth was dry. When I start the engine, there are no sparks, I put a piece of tissue on top of each injector hole and the 3 that were drenched in gazoline leap out, however the 4th one stays closed. I checked the ground connection of ECU pins 14,30 and 48/55. I found 0ohm. So i assume the problem is in another place.

I also tried to reset PID but without success. The car will start when the G28 is unplugged, and it runs fine with the G28 plugged in. However the intermittent misfire issue still occurs at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62), even when unplugged, still shows temperatures of -49c. Also, i noticed that the gauge for oil pressure in the cockpit shows 2 bar, whereas the actual pressure is 0.0 when i rev the engine.

I don't know what to do. I feel like i've pretty much eliminated everything else. I'm concerned that i may have missed something. If anyone has suggestions, please share them! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 gets a signal from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is similar to the G4 sender and works on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. You can easily find an extra in a wrecking shop or a parts store. Testing them is easy to do - just put your DMM in resistance mode and measure between pins 1 (with the bump on the connector's side up) and 2 (2nd from left on the black connector's side). They should be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

The ECU of our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY) engines must know both the position and speed of the crankshaft to make decisions regarding timing of fuel injectors, etc. It uses a Crank Position Sensor G4 and an Engine Speed Sensor G28 to achieve this. If you encounter a problem with either of these, the diagnostic scanner will display the codes that could trigger the engine shutting down.

Some of the symptoms of a failing G28 sensor audi car keys replacement car key holder (www.instapaper.com) include an inaccurate gearbox rev counter, gears shifting quicker than normal and/or misfiring when you're in gear. It is possible that the sensor is failing and requires to be replaced if you experience any of these signs. They're cheap and easy to find especially in the case of a Bosch sensor like ours. If you prefer, GM's version of this component is an option.

5. Tachometer

A faulty engine speed sensor could be a cause for many problems in your vehicle. It's an essential component of the audi spare key cost's transmission as it sends information to the ECU about how the car's crankshaft is spinning. If the sensor fails, it will disrupt the performance of the transmission and the rest of the car's components.

The G5 engine sensor is located at the outskirts of transmission, above the flywheel ring. It sends an electrical signal through an uncolored wire to the ECU pin T55/49. The ECU utilizes this signal to regulate the flow of fuel and boost and also to timigrate. It also sends it to the G5 Tachometer in instrument cluster. You can check the sensor for failure by checking continuity between it and the tachometer, between the ECU pin T55/49 and the instrument cluster connection on pin T6a/1 (trace [79]) as well as between T6a/1, and the instrument cluster pin T26a/12. You should see a resistance of approximately 1000 ohms between these points. This is a typical part across the Audi Key Fob Replacement Cost 80, 100 200, UrS and RS2 range from 1985 MC through the 1997 UrS AAN and 1995 RS2 ADU, so the best ones could be available in wrecking yards.
