Bedside Crib and Travel Cot

bedside crib or cot cribs resemble a bassinet and are attached to the sides of the bed. They usually have one side that can be dropped down for easy reach, and some have an incline that's ideal for babies who have reflux.

MFM tester Georgina said that this crib was easy to assemble, and the instructions were very easy to follow. It was a simple build. It also folds down to the size of a small bag and comes with a handy bag for transport.

Easy to assemble

They are small and simple to set-up, so they can be set next to your bed. They are also lighter, making them more transportable. Georgina one of our MFM home testers, was extremely pleased with the Maxi-Cosi Lora crib for being "super easy to build, with clear instructions and simple zips." This crib can also function as a travel cot, and comes with a handy bag for when you're moving. It includes multiple mesh openings to allow ventilation, and its adjustable height allows it to be adapted to any mattress.

Some cribs for bedside use the option of a side panel that could be raised, allowing the ability to be close to your baby without having to get out of your bed. This is an excellent option for mothers who are breastfeeding, or those who wish to remain close to their baby during the night, but don't want to take on the risk of co-sleeping.

Many models come with a built-in function that allows you to rock your baby. This can be a relaxing experience for your baby and help them fall asleep. Some cribs offer a recline position that is beneficial in the case of reflux or colic. These should only be used under supervision, and a doctor or health professional should be consulted before trying this position.

If you're looking for something little smaller than the Tutti Bambini COZee is another stylish choice with oak legs and clever fabrics that will fit your decor. It's also incredibly easy to put together - Georgina who took part in our MFM tests, put it together speedily and didn't even need to read the instructions. It's also a great travel cot. It folds flat and can be easily stuffed into bags.

The Next2me Magic, which was shortlisted for the Best Cot, Crib or Moses Basket at the 2021 Mother&Baby Awards, is also on the larger side however it is still compact and easy to attach into your bed. Georgina also found it easy to set up although she thought the instructions could have been more clear regarding the zips.

Easy to clean

Look for cribs that come with mattress covers that can be washed in the machine when you are looking at cribs for bed or travel cots. This will allow you to keep it free of leaky nappies, sick babies and dribbles. You should also choose a model that is easily disassembled, allowing you to clean and disinfect every nook and cranny.

This is crucial, since it's the best way to ensure that all germs and dirt have been removed. Verify that the sides of the crib are secure so that your baby cannot fall off or be trapped.
