3 Wheel All Terrain Pushchair

If you're seeking a stroller to tackle walks in the woods or strolls on the main streets, an all terrain pushchair with a great maneuverability will be a great choice. These models typically come with large wheels and suspension systems that provide smooth riding on rough terrain.

The majority are suitable for infants and include seats that can be set in a flat position or a carrycot for newborns. They also usually have foam-filled tyres that are never flat to help with maintenance.

Suspension

A true all terrain pushchair will have good suspension that is designed to be extremely smooth on rough terrain, helping your little one to feel comfortable and relaxed. The wheels should also be large and will usually be puncture-proof to avoid damage from sharp rocks or sticks.

They tend to be quite wide and can be difficult to maneuver in tight spaces or in aisles of shops.

It is not as flexible as other all-terrain strollers on this list however, it is able to manage hilly terrain and has a spacious one-handed fold that's great for long walks in the countryside, or long journeys. It's also suitable for infants and comes with a large canopy that can be extended and a movable handlebar and a large, spacious basket.

Stores

There are some excellent all-terrain pushchairs that are ideal for parents who want to take their child off-road, but don't want to take on Ben Nevis. They offer the best of both. Look for a model that has good all-terrain capabilities, sturdy suspension and large puncture-proof wheels, yet is built in a traditional pushchair style with reversible seating and full carrycot options.

The UPPAbaby's bestselling Ridge all-terrain pushchair is a great illustration of this. It has a great suspension, a simple one-handed fold, and a large 10kg basket but also has features for parents that are child-friendly, like an adjustable handlebar, a hand-operated brake on the right-hand side and a huge covered storage space. The hood can be taken off and washed using cool soapy-water to keep out mould and mildew.

If you're going to be taking your all-terrain pushchair off-road it's a good idea to choose air-filled tyres rather than ones with rubber grips. These will provide a smoother ride over rough terrain, and make it easier to navigate through tight spaces. If you plan to use your all-terrain pushchair to do occasional jogging, ensure that the front wheel can pivot or has a quick release facility to ensure it is locked in place to provide more stability.
