WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you boost in certain statistics. Each upgrade items boosts the level of an item by +3. Each upgrade also increases the random substatus.

The upgraded gear typically has a higher trade value as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or has a high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader mod upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any type of armor or weapons. However, the item that is used to upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to Enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.

Upgrades can cost more based on the item level, however they'll always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar Best item upgrade will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase weapons, armor, tools, and accessory upgrades. They can be bought by players from item upgrader NPCs in exchange for various currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any weapon, tool, or armor. The button will display the preview of an item's next upgrade level, if there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrading varies based on the slot of the item upgrade and the current item level. For instance weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with some upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or the crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currencies.

Item upgraders can be found at many locations on the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases depending on the amount of items that are being upgraded, and can be increased by having players complete specific achievements or complete quests.

Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no item upgrader available at the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades require various methods which is both an improvement and a drawback.

Crests

Players have a variety of choices when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. They can use Flightstones that are a common upgrade currency that is available to everyone players, or crests, which are more specific and used to upgrade specific Best item upgrader levels. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.

Utilizing these new currencies isn't that difficult, but the system introduces some modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This change lets players upgrade their gear to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

Another notable modification is that crests have one usage therefore it's essential to make use of them in a responsible manner. For instance, it's a good idea to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the top equipment available, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you're planning on making.
