World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

The upgrade of an item can be used to increase the stats of a particular item. Depending on the upgrade type it can raise an item's Mark level or Rarity and boost additional stats.

Each item has a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a certain amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's basic stats increases when it is upgraded. This value is the total of all its upgraded benefits (attack magic attack, attack defense). Upgrades can be expensive depending on the person you hire and what you do. This is due to the variety of perks that must be modified to upgrade an item.

It is also used as a gating requirement while queueing for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It is also used to limit the amount of PvP gear players can use as PvP is restricted at a lower level. Players can see their average level of items on their character sheet.

When deciding to purchase or sell equipment, players can compare the level of an item. It's a measure of the item's condition and quality. Comparing items in a vendor's stock can be done using the item level.

The level of the item can be checked by pressing the ALT key on a PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will show the full description of the item, as well as its level. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat.

There are a few theories on how the calculation of an item's level is done. One theory is that the level is a number that comes from a formula that calculates the amount an item's stats are worth. It is based on the fact that different perks are valued differently, and that gems in the sockets boost the value of the item. This can result in an item's ilvl calculated, which is typically very close to Blizzard's real level of the item.

However, this isn't the only factor which determines the ilvl of an item upgrade, since the level of the area the item is dropped into can alter the value of its stats, for example by adding an amount to its crit rating or haste rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have higher value than items dropped in lower-level instances.

Item Stats

The item's stats can make or break an item for players. The game makes use of a lot of them in various ways to encourage players to use multiple weapons, and also to stop one weapon from being "the most effective." The stat mods on a weapon boost the base stats. These stat mods are then boosted by the player's level.

The upgrades to items add by increasing certain stats on the item. The costs for upgrades are determined by the rarity of the item. For instance, a gray or white item can only be upgraded once, while an item with the rare levels will be upgraded multiple times, at higher costs.

Another method to alter the stats of an item is through affixes. They are stat boosts which can be added by the player to an item. Affixes are used to give items additional damage or other special capabilities (such as reviving dead or reducing cooling downs) or to distinguish them by adding a name.

Presently, all affixes are able to be changed by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button using circling arrows. This process will cost the player a specific amount of gold and other items which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same way as other options for rerolling.

In addition to Rerolling affixes and rerolls, players can also choose which of the available stats to be kept on an item after it is upgraded. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However each item will include at least one stat within that range unless they are an item that is unique or an item that has a God Roll from a raid boss.

Another thing that could be changed is the option to upgrade equipment without having to reroll the affixes, or choose which stats to boost. As with the base equipment, this will have to be done per item, and the interface for item comparison will not show all possible stats at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player boosts the likelihood of locating items and the properties that are created by loot and the strength of these properties. It does not, however directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players the chance to upgrade equipment earlier in the game. This is especially beneficial for early game runs, because players tend to put the scaling of weapons and defenses over raw damage gains.

Luck can also increase the chances of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall Upgrade item chance that increases with each level of the item and can be further increased through the use of an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons have the default Luck value of 40. These items can be enhanced with golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the item's material type) to give +40 Luck or to increase the luck of an item, up to 140.

Additionally some items, such as the Hollow infused weapon can be used to increase the damage dealt by any damage-dealing skill by 5percent. These items can be purchased from the shop, or they can be made using the correct ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades are successful. However, there are cash shop items which allow players to increase their chances of success or even prevent them from losing an item in the event that the upgrade is unsuccessful.

The rate of success of an upgrade can be seen in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of completing the upgrade successfully and can be enhanced by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The percentage of success can only be increased by so high, and the probability that an upgrade will fail can't be greater than 100%..

The success of an can be affected by the Luck of that item. Each item has an average success rate of 25%, and each item with Luck increases the chance of success by 5percent.

It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the inventory items which means that enchantment glints and other effects can be obscured by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
