Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade

Item upgrade, also called "upping," improves an Item Upgrader mod's stats. Each upgrade increment increases a stat linearly.

Players can recycle six items at one time to gain a gauge for each item's upgraded component. The cost of recycling an item varies with its rarity and level.

Upgrade components

In Guild Wars 2, an upgrade to an item is a method to increase the stats on your weapon and armor. This can be achieved through a variety of methods through the use of upgrade components or by increasing the rarity of an item or its mark level. Many items can also be reforged to increase their value.

Upgradable items can be found all over the game, both in the world and as rewards for missions. They can also be created by players. The main way to upgrade gear is through the use of upgrade components, which are items that can be inserted into equipment. Most equipment has upgrade slots, and many require a certain upgrade level. Certain upgrade components provide specific bonuses while others give a general bonus.

There are many types of upgrade components available in the game. These include universal upgrades, inscriptions, and jewels. Universal upgrades, like gemstones and enchantments, can be placed on any kind of equipment and provide smaller bonuses than equipment-specific upgrades. Glyphs are only available in gathering tools and offer various bonuses, ranging from increasing the speed of an item's gathering to providing extra crafting materials.

To upgrade an item, select it in your inventory, then open the Upgrade window. This will display an overview on the right side of the screen, showing the expected stats after the upgrade, along with any required components or materials. The Upgrade button at the bottom will be labeled as blocked if you don't have enough of either.

The amount of upgrade components required for a particular item can be seen in the upper-right corner of the window for upgrading. The cost of upgrading increases with the level of the upgrade and its rarity, but can be reduced by many different ways, such as purchasing upgrades from a vendor or trading them to other players.

Many weapons can be improved with a prefix, such as a rune or an insignia. Other weapons can be enhanced by adding the suffix. These upgrades include an adjective in the name of the item for example "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".

Glyphs

Glyphs are a way to communicate visual information. They animate in order to draw the attention of the viewer and entice curiosity. The animation of glyphs mimics body language, making them more effective in conveying the message across linguistic barriers. Glyphs also create a sense of familiarity in the brain, which increases retention of the message.

Each glyph has a set of values it can improve a stat by according to the item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use them to enchant an Artifact. This is not the actual amount by which glyphs can improve a stat, but the maximum amount by which it can do so. The value of the glyph will depend on the tier and the quality of the item upgrader mod that you are admiring.

The majority of upgrade components added to items cannot be removed or replaced without dismantling them except for legendary equipment and upgrades. If, however, you have an unusable rune or glyph that hasn't yet been incorporated into your gear, you can move it to another piece of gear by using the Upgrade Glyphs context menu within the Glyphs panel. This will create an Glyph Set that includes the chosen glyph.

If you wish to remove a glyph from an item you must save it using the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. The item on which the glyph is placed will be destroyed, however the upgraded item can be salvaged using the glyph shards.

The addition of a glyph to an item can cause it to be unstable, and the shards of that glyph will disappear from your inventory once you dismantle the item. You can also put an inscription to your equipment to increase its value. Deferred Damage, for example can store damage, and then be dealt out slowly to the wearer rather than all at once. This is beneficial for those who take many hits from enemies but don't want to be overwhelmed.

Reroll tokens

Reroll tokens allow players to alter the affixes they use on their weapons and equipment and can be found in various ways like mistery boxes, as a rare drop from skulled creatures, or by killing bosses. Reroll tokens give the player a new random affix, which is typically superior to the original. Reroll tokens are also a great way to reroll weapon stats that can be upgraded to increase damage or perks.

Items that have been rerolled do not appear in the upgrade menu, however they still qualify to receive upgrades. These rerolled items can be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button, which changes the appearance of the window and allows up to six items to be chosen to recycle. The level gauge is increased by recycling an item. This amount is determined by the item upgrading's rarity and its level, therefore higher-level items are more valuable to recycle than lower level ones.

In addition to tokens for rerolls players can also use Star Remnants and Reroll Tokens to reroll the Weapon Traits of an upgraded unit. Rerolls roll a percentage chance to determine a weapon's trait. If it scores higher, the weapon is upgraded. If it is lower the weapon is left as it was. Weapons can be upgraded up to 3 times.

Rerolls are a great option for upgrading an item, but users must be aware that it can lower the overall ilvl of the weapon based on the number of rerolls required in order to increase the weapon to its ultimate ilvl. This effect is most evident on Rings and Diadems since they have no other options to increase the ilvl.

Players have complained that the reroll system is too expensive. It would be fairer to let people pay for it using money or food items, which will allow them to make changes to their builds without having to spend excessive amounts of time. The developers aren't planning to offer paid rerolls in this point in the game's development. They are planning to add an ingredient that allows players to alter their race in the near future.

Leveling

There are many ways to upgrade an item. The first is to increase the amount of upgrade which boosts the value of upgrading the stat. The second option is to boost the effect of an upgrade, which boosts the damage or healing of the stat. The base item can be upgraded to an advanced upgrade type. After this, the new item will keep its iLevel but it will benefit from the upgrade effects of the upgraded type of item.

When upgrading items It is crucial to keep in mind that upgrades aren't always planned. In most cases the Best item upgrade roll will come from the glyphs, but there are also possibilities for more or unique rolls. The type of the item will determine the iLevel. If you upgrade a rare or unique item to a special item type, it's likely to getting an upper level.

Upgrades to items can be costly, particularly when you're upgrading a piece of equipment from a standard to the legendary track. The price will depend on the item's iLevel base and the amount of upgrade levels it offers. Additionally, certain upgrade tracks require crests to achieve the next upgrade level.

If you're lucky the upgraded item will reach the maximum level on its upgrade track, and thus unlock an additional effect. This will give you a substantial increase in the value of the item. The bonus effect will change with each upgrade level however. In general, the effect of upgrading is increased by +3.

Depending on the item's base level and its upgrade process, the iLevel for the upgraded item will also change. For example an item that has been upgraded from a unique or rare to a rare or exceptional item is likely to gain the Enhanced Defense of the new base type of item.
