WoW Upgrades - The item level upgrade (resources) Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost in certain statistics. Each upgrade increases the item level by +3. Each upgrade also boosts a random substat.

Upgraded gear generally sees more value in trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or very high stat variation (like Eth titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as important for the latter due to the requirement to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapons. However, the item that is used for the upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and can't be used again. Upgrades can be used to create the enchantments.

The upgrader is located in all major cities and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended to visit the upgrader every few weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.

Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item, however, they are always cheaper than buying new equipment. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that are used to level up weapons and tools, armor and other items. They are purchased by players from item upgrader NPCs in exchange for different currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any tool, weapon or armor. The button will display a preview of an item's next upgrade level when there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the item slot and the current level of the item, with weapons costing more than bracers or gloves, for example. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or the crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

Upgraders for items are available at many locations including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and the chance to acquire a new upgrade items recipe. The discount on upgrades increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players finish certain achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades require a variety of means which is both an improvement but also a drawback.

In Season 3, many new features have been added to the upgrade system. When a player has an upgrade to a particular level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading other items to that same item level will cost less even when they are part of an entirely different set of gear.

The discount applies to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain milestones in their achievement.

Crests

Players have a number of options when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an item upgrades that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specific, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1 and are available in four ranks.

The first thing to be aware of is that crests are only able to be spent on equipment of a particular rank, and every rank has different requirements for upgrading. The most basic and straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the most complicated may require as many as 20 crests based on the kind of gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through working through content that is of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and performing outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of all difficulty for items of higher tier or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for endgame gear. These crests can be exchanged with an item upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and paths.

The use of these currencies isn't that difficult however, the system does introduce some changes to the overall upgrade process. For example, once an item is at the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible level on all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another important change is that crests have one usage, so it's important to use them properly. It is Best item upgrader to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the top-quality equipment that you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is especially true for items like trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character, which can only be eligible to benefit from the account-wide discount if all slots are filled with high-quality equipment.
